Venice Beach is one of the most iconic neighborhoods in Los Angeles—known for its oceanfront boardwalk, street art, creative culture, and laid-back coastal lifestyle. At CatCafe Lounge, we’re now part of the Venice community. If you’re planning a day here, this guide walks you through the must-see landmarks—along with a few details that make Venice feel uniquely its own. Start with the Classics: Venice Beach Boardwalk The Venice Beach Boardwalk is a two-mile oceanfront promenade that defines the neighborhood. Running parallel to the Pacific, it’s known for:
Reset at the Venice Canals The Venice Canals Historic District was built in 1905 as part of Abbot Kinney’s original vision for the area. Today, it’s known for:
Build in a Pause: Cats, Coffee, and Cuddles By this point, most people are ready for a break. At CatCafe Lounge, you can step into a calm, welcoming space just minutes from the canals and the beach:
Optional Stop: Abbot Kinney Blvd. Abbot Kinney Boulevard is one of the most well-known streets in Venice and has been widely recognized for its mix of retail, dining, and design. The street is known for:
Catch the Sunset Head back toward the shoreline and take in the sunset over the Pacific.
It’s one of the simplest parts of the day—but also one of the most memorable. Planning Your Day in Venice? Stop by our new Venice Beach location! Got weekend plans? If you've ever wondered what to do before or after your visit to CatCafe Lounge, here is a list of some hidden and not so hidden gems scattered across the westside of Los Angeles. Culver CityDowntown Culver City is a quick 15 minute Uber ride from CatCafe Lounge. This city if filled with amazing restaurants and bars. Two of our favorite are Sestina (Vegan amazingness) and Blind Barber (legit speakeasy). Check out more favorite Culver City options from Infatuation LA. Santa MonicaSanta Monica has so much to offer! Whether it's spending the day at the beach, visiting the pier, or grabbing brunch, you could easily spend a whole day here. Pro tip: spend your afternoon by the beach after hitting up 1212 for brunch, then head to CatCafe Lounge. An evening session with adorable cats is the purrfect way to wrap up your day. 3rd St. Promenade has changed a lot since it's heyday, but the adjacent streets are still just a vibrate as before Covid times. Venice We might be biased because he hosted our annual Summer Kitten Lounge popup on Abbot Kinney in 2021, but we LOVE Venice, specifically Abbot Kinney. It's cool beach vibe and unique shops and restaurants lining the main drag cannot be missed. Pro tip: hit the shops around noon, grab a late lunch at Butchers Daughter, and then head to CatCafe Lounge for a serotonin boost with cats and cuddles.
